Willard Katsande Predicts Bafana Bafana Victory Over Zimbabwe in World Cup Qualifier
Former Kaizer Chiefs star Willard Katsande has shared his views ahead of the highly anticipated 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier between Zimbabwe and South Africa.
The two sides are set to meet on Friday at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, with both nations under pressure to secure a vital win.
South Africa will be looking to strengthen their qualification hopes, while Zimbabwe will be fighting for their first victory of the campaign after a frustrating run of four draws and four defeats.

Willard Katsande Backs South Africa to Prevail
Katsande expressed confidence in South Africa’s current form, noting that Bafana Bafana are performing well and maintaining strong momentum.

He acknowledged that every match presents its own challenges but pointed out that the team’s consistency and recent performances place them in a positive position heading into the crucial World Cup qualifier.
“If you look into analytical points, the next game is going to bring its own dynamics, but you can see that Bafana Bafana are in a good space, they’re in a good run,” Katsande told KickOff.com.
Katsande Highlights Bafana’s Confidence and Zimbabwe’s Struggles
Katsande believes South Africa hold a clear advantage over Zimbabwe due to their impressive recent form and consistency in the qualifiers. He pointed out that Zimbabwe’s struggles throughout the FIFA calendar have made them less competitive, while Bafana Bafana’s strong performances suggest they are well-positioned to qualify for the World Cup.
“Zimbabwe haven’t had a good FIFA calendar, so you could predict that Bafana Bafana are going to make it to the World Cup, I mean, they are going to beat Zimbabwe based on the previous performance.
“But it’s going to down to be a tough 90 minutes, but South Africa have a good campaign, they are in a good space, and when you’re in a good space, you are confident, you are bound to get what you want.
“However, football is a competition, so we will see on the day, but Bafana have a great advantage ahead of the match due to how they have been playing lately.”
Benin vs Nigeria: Another Battle to Watch
Katsande also weighed in on another crucial Group C fixture — the encounter between Benin and Nigeria — both teams still hopeful of securing automatic qualification.
“Now, Benin are in a good space, Nigeria, they are very good, if you look at the squad, the squad is rich, but are they going in the same direction as players?” he said.
“It’s going to be another tough game, Benin are in a good space, remember, they still believe that they can qualify, so it’s going to be a tricky match.”
