Pitso Mosimane Credits Zimbabwean Players for His Premier Soccer League Success

Renowned South African football coach Pitso Mosimane has credited Zimbabwean football players for significantly contributing to his achievements in the Premier Soccer League (PSL).

During an interview with veteran sportscaster Robert Marawa on the Marawa Sports Worldwide show on his popular radio show on 947, Mosimane detailed how Zimbabwean talent played a pivotal role in his coaching journey.

Zimbabwean Players: The Secret to Success

Pitso Mosimane, who is the current manager of Saudi Arabia side Abha FC, shared his admiration for Zimbabwean footballers.

“I used to raid Zimbabwe from Khama Billiat to Cuthbert Malajila, Method Mwanjali, Kuda Mahachi, and others,” he revealed.

He also shared a unique aspect of his pre-season preparations, which involved traveling to Zimbabwe to play against top local clubs

“You know what I used to do my pre-season there in Zimbabwe and when I go there I would play CAPS United, Highlanders, and Dynamos.”

Future Aspirations Rooted in Zimbabwe

Reflecting on his coaching philosophy, Mosimane emphasized the importance of Zimbabwean players in his teams. Pitso Mosimane revealed how he would scout and recruit talent from Zimbabwe if he were to have a Premier League team.

“If I am to have a Premier League team right now which is not one of the giants, I will go to Zimbabwe for pre-season, play those big three, trust me I will come with one or two players which I will eventually sell to Sundowns, Pirates, or Chiefs,” he said.

Former Bafana Bafana head coach Pitso Mosimane’s CV is unmatched by any active coach in Africa.

Pitso Mosimane’s illustrious career is marked by numerous accolades, including three CAF Champions League titles—one with Mamelodi Sundowns in 2016 and two with Al Ahly in 2020 and 2021.

Additionally, he has secured five South African Premier Soccer League titles and six Cup trophies, solidifying his reputation as a dominant force in African football.
