Police Act on Tip-Off About Hidden Weapons

According to H-Metro, detectives from the CID Homicide division received information last Friday suggesting that several firearms had been moved for concealment at the instruction of accused armed robber Clever Chada.

Chada, who was arrested earlier this year in connection with robberies in and around Harare, is alleged to have directed his wife, Erinita Chingosho, to arrange for the guns to be hidden.

Investigators were informed that the weapons were taken to Tikiza’s home for safekeeping.

Raid Leads to Shocking Discovery

Detectives raided Tikiza’s residence on Saturday, where she reportedly admitted receiving the guns from Chingosho and said she had been told to keep them out of sight. Tikiza further revealed that she later transferred the firearms to her nephew’s residence.

She then accompanied officers to Maisiri’s home. Police conducted a search in the garden and dug up a black plastic bag buried in the soil.

Inside, detectives recovered three pistols:

  • an AUT 6.5mm pistol (serial number B309360),
  • a Browning spatene depose pistol (serial number 249567), and
  • a patented Colt pistol (serial number 06309).

Court Appearance

Tamara Tikiza and her nephew, Shepard Maisiri, appeared briefly before Harare magistrate Ruth Moyo.

They were not asked to plead and now face charges of unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
