Springboks captain Siya Kolisi faced backlash for removing his shorts in front of young girls after South Africa’s 24–13 win against Ireland. The rugby star recently made headlines for his rumoured romance with 24-year-old Dutch influencer Rachel James, following his separation from Rachel Kolisi last year.
Siya Kolisi’s Gift Sparks Outrage
After the match, a video surfaced online showing Siya interacting with fans in the crowd. It quickly caused a stir. He offered his rugby shorts to a young fan, which left many viewers uncomfortable.
This was not his first controversial gesture. In 2023, Siya pulled down his shorts at Murrayfield Stadium, showing “Faffies” with the South African flag. Later that year, he signed a supporter’s swimsuit, captioning the clip “Not again!” In 2021, he also signed a fan’s butt in Edinburgh and gave a playful slap.
A young fan didn’t have a phone for a selfie, so Siya Kolisi gave him his shorts.

Fans React with Criticism
On X (formerly Twitter), fans were quick to condemn his actions.
@KeshanNaidoo3 said: “Nah, that’s disgusting. I don’t care how famous you are, keep your pants to yourself.”
@Lindy_Nhlapo added: “That’s a rather odd thing to give to a fan, why not boots or shirt?”
@JJAJLJTJ posted: “Exposing himself to a child!”
@KastroSol wrote: “That’s public indecency!”
In the video, Siya chatted with female fans and a young boy asking for photos. When the boy requested a personal item, Siya offered his worn shorts. He removed them, leaving only his undergarments under a long black coat — sparking heated debate online.
