AKA’s Mother Lynn Forbes Reveals the Guilt She Carries Over Tibz’s Death

AKA’s mother, Lynn Forbes, has revealed the painful guilt she carries after the deaths of her son and Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane.

Her emotional comments came as the long-awaited murder trial opened in the Durban High Court.

Seven men now face trial over the deaths of the two close friends.

AKA and Tibz died after gunmen attacked them outside Wish restaurant on Durban’s Florida Road.

The fatal shooting happened on 10 February 2023.

More than three years later, the case has finally reached court.

Lynn attended the opening proceedings alongside Tibz’s father, Sylvester Motsoane.

The two parents now face the painful task of hearing evidence about their sons’ final moments.

The court proceedings brought back devastating memories for both families.

Lynn also shared an emotional Instagram post about her late son after leaving court.

However, her comments about Tibz revealed another layer of her grief.

She explained why she has carried feelings of guilt since the two friends were killed.

“I always felt a little bit guilty that Sylvester lost his son, because my son was supposed to be the one,” Lynn said.

Her words reflected the belief that AKA was the primary target of the attack.

Instead, the shooting claimed the lives of both men.

Lynn and Sylvester have since had to grieve their sons while waiting for justice.

The trial now gives both families an opportunity to hear the evidence surrounding the killings.

Seven accused men face allegations linked to the planning and execution of the murders.

‘It’s absolute torture’ for AKA’s mother

Despite wanting justice, Lynn does not intend to attend every day of the trial.

She explained that repeatedly hearing the evidence would place enormous emotional pressure on her.

“I don’t want to be here to sit and listen and torture myself, ’cos it’s absolute torture,” she said in an interview.

Instead, Lynn plans to follow the case without exposing herself to every painful detail.

She also expressed appreciation for the investigators and prosecutors involved in bringing the case to court.

The lengthy investigation has faced criticism because the murders happened in 2023.

However, Lynn defended the time authorities took to prepare the case.

She acknowledged that investigators needed time to develop the evidence before proceeding with the prosecution.

Still, the trial cannot erase the loss that both families continue to experience.

For Lynn, no court outcome can bring her son back.

“My son’s gone,” she said.
