Corruption has rocked Zimbabwe for decades, shaping politics and burdening ordinary citizens. Every scandal has stolen resources meant for schools, hospitals, and jobs. Citizens face collapsed services while elites enrich themselves through shady dealings. Public trust continues to shrink as accountability remains elusive.
Political debates grow increasingly toxic as corruption dominates every conversation. Honest voices are drowned out by patronage and selective prosecutions. These challenges highlight the urgent need for collective action. A genuine fight must cut across factions, institutions, and hierarchies.
Zimbabwe cannot afford half-hearted battles or politically convenient campaigns. Without decisive accountability, corruption will keep suffocating development and distorting politics. Ordinary people continue to demand fairness, justice, and transparency. Zimbabwe’s future depends on confronting this scourge openly, bravely, and consistently.

‘All this is corruption’: Themba Mliswa on the military scandals
Outspoken politician Themba Mliswa recently slammed corruption, demanding real accountability across all sectors. He stressed that scandals have plagued Zimbabwe for years. Mliswa reminded citizens about diamond looting in Chiadzwa involving the military. He highlighted the notorious case of the missing US$15 billion.
He also cited Obert Mpofu, who earned the moniker “Lobengula.” Mliswa argued that shady land dealings, including claims over Victoria Falls, symbolised entrenched rot. He recalled Parliament summoning Mpofu, who famously refused questioning. According to Mliswa, corruption existed even under Mugabe, through figures known as “Zvigananda.” He criticised selective prosecutions that shield powerful elites from scrutiny.
He urged Zimbabwe to fight corruption without fear or favour. Mliswa rejected claims that exposing scandals equates to factional fighting. He stressed corruption must be confronted in totality, not at politically convenient times. For him, genuine reform demands honesty, courage, and fairness across all levels of authority.
Zimbabwean debate
After Themba Mliswa shared his opinion on fighting corruption citing the military’s scandals etc, Zimbabweans had a lot to say.
@manuconsiglieri You are wasting your time. As you can see from the majority of comments you have no http://sway.you are just a compromisrd thief”
@marvin_charles_ “@PoliceZimbabwe, arrest this man for withholding such critical information. All along, he was aware that Obert Mpofu had acquired the entire town of Victoria Falls in a corrupt manner.”
@mimmitwit “Imi bhuru, are you saying zvigananda should steal because others stole in Mugabe era? So its just a case of thieves lining up for next regime so they can say zvigananda the 3rd?”
@sirmtakawira “It’s even unbelievable that the opposition was also involved…Tsvangirai was there(PM), Chamisa was there and the then minister of finance Biti.”
