Arrest Warrants Issued For Dyonne Tafirenyika, Amina Jessub Arab And Noreen Jessub

Amina Jessub Arab, Dyonne Tafirenyika And Noreen Jessub Face Arrest Warrants After Missing Court

Amina Jassinta Jessub Arab, Dyonne Tanaka Tafirenyika and Noreen Jessub are facing arrest warrants after failing to appear in court in Bulawayo, where they are answering to drug-related charges.

The trio was expected to appear before magistrate Mark Dzira, but their absence prompted the court to issue warrants for their arrest.

According to ZimLive, their lawyer, Brezhnev Mathonsi, told the court that the women were travelling from Harare. Dzira rejected the explanation, saying they should have made arrangements to arrive before their scheduled appearance.

‘They Should Have Travelled Yesterday’

The magistrate said the women knew when they were required to attend court and should have planned their journey accordingly.

“They knew they were supposed to appear today; they should have travelled yesterday,” Dzira was quoted as saying.

The court proceeded to issue arrest warrants after the three failed to appear as required.

How The Drug Case Began

The women were arrested at a lodge in Bulawayo’s Ilanda suburb following a police search of their rooms, according to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).

Prosecutors allege that officers found two sachets of cocaine, valued at ZiG9,000, concealed inside a shoe in Jessub’s room. Two more sachets of cocaine were allegedly recovered from Arab’s room.

In Tafirenyika’s room, police reportedly discovered a sachet of crystal meth, another sachet of cocaine and US$53,055 in cash.

Investigating officer Phillimon Gumberu opposed their release on bail, arguing that the evidence against them was substantial and that they could flee. He also alleged that Tafirenyika had failed to account for the money recovered from her room.

The allegations have yet to be determined by the court.

High Court Previously Granted Them Bail

The latest development comes after the three women secured bail from the Bulawayo High Court in September.

Justice Munamato Mutevedzi granted them bail of US$1,000 each after their legal team successfully appealed an earlier decision denying them release.

They were ordered to surrender their passports, report twice at Hatfield Police Station, remain at their stated residential addresses and refrain from interfering with witnesses.
