Starlink’s Satellite Internet in Zimbabwe: Usage Despite Lack of License
Starlink, owned by billionaire Elon Musk, is expanding its presence in Africa. The internet service provider has already received approval for usage in countries like Zambia, Malawi, and Mozambique. However, Zimbabwe has yet to grant Starlink a license to operate within its borders.
Nevertheless, despite its lack of legal authorization, people in Zimbabwe have been purchasing Starlink kits and using the satellite internet service.
Since the satellite internet provider is still illegal in Zimbabwe, those who have acquired Starlink are poised to have their services disabled.

The Starlink message also stated that those who have Starlink routers may pause their service or, alternatively, use the Starlink service in an authorized area.
“You may pause service and billing by following the instructions here or continue service and use your Starlink service in an area we currently serve (see map here). If you opt to pause service, you can reach out to support and we will issue a service credit for any remainder of the current billing period.”
