Beitbridge Husband Denies Wife Conjugal Rights Over Friendships With Single Mothers
A Beitbridge man allegedly denied his wife conjugal rights because of her friendships with single mothers before their dispute escalated into an assault, a magistrates’ court heard on Thursday, 27 August 2026.
Husband Objects To Wife’s Single Mother Friends
The matter came before Beitbridge Magistrate Gillian Padzakashamba when Stanford Jacobs, 30, appeared facing an assault charge.
Jacobs pleaded guilty and was remanded in custody for sentencing.
The court heard that Jacobs was unhappy about his wife Panashe Tagwirei, 24, associating with unmarried women, particularly single mothers.
On 24 August 2026, the couple were reportedly at their home in New Medium Density when Tagwirei attempted to serve Jacobs supper.
Jacobs allegedly refused the food and told her to give it to “the people she was supposed to serve”.
Conjugal Rights Dispute Ends In Assault
The State alleged that Tagwirei later asked whether his unhappiness with her friendships was the reason he was denying her conjugal rights.
She reportedly suggested that they separate peacefully if he no longer loved her.
Jacobs allegedly responded by slapping her several times on the face, grabbing her by the collar and dragging her.
The court further heard that he tore her blouse and removed her trousers, leaving her in tights and a bra.
A passerby reportedly intervened before the assault could continue.

Jacobs remains in custody pending sentencing.
