Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe and Co-Accused Case Postponed as Plea Deal Nears Completion
The case involving Bellarmine Mugabe and his co-accused, Tobias Matonhodze, has been postponed to next Tuesday at the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court.
The two were scheduled to engage in plea negotiations and partial admissions with the state on Tuesday.
Court proceedings were halted after it was reported that the senior public prosecutor responsible for taking the final decision was unavailable due to prior commitments.

Charges Against the Accused
Bellarmine Mugabe and Matonhodze face multiple charges connected to a shooting incident in Johannesburg. The accused are charged with attempted murder, defeating the ends of justice, and possession of a firearm.
The incident involved a 23-year-old gardener who was shot at a Hyde Park residence. Additionally, Mugabe faces a charge relating to being in South Africa illegally.

Plea Agreement Nears Completion
According to court sources, a plea deal between the state and the accused is almost finalised, with approximately 98% of the agreement completed. Authorities are expected to resume proceedings next Tuesday to continue the plea negotiations.
Next Steps in Court
Both Mugabe and Matonhodze are expected to appear again next week as the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court continues with the formalities of the plea agreement. The state anticipates concluding the partial admissions and formalising the agreement during the upcoming session.
