Highlanders coach Benjani Mwaruwari has set his sights on Chibuku Super Cup glory following the club’s historic centenary celebrations.
The Bulawayo giants have reached the final under Mwaruwari’s leadership, despite enduring a challenging season.
The former Warriors striker inherited a struggling side and faced enormous expectations from the Highlanders faithful.
However, he has helped revive the team’s fortunes and restore belief among its supporters.
Mwaruwari believes the difficult circumstances surrounding his appointment pushed him to work harder and demonstrate his coaching abilities.
“I would like to thank the fans. Sometimes if you are not sure of what you are getting into, let your feelings be known. When I came here I had a challenge to turn things and prove my capabilities. That environment motivated me to work harder. The team over achieved given the circumstances at play,” he said.
Mwaruwari eyes a historic Chibuku Super Cup triumph
With Highlanders celebrating 100 years of existence, Mwaruwari wants to finish the milestone campaign with silverware.
Although the club has secured a place in the cup final, the coach insists that important challenges remain.
Highlanders still have two matches before their final showdown. Therefore, Mwaruwari wants his players to maintain their momentum.
He believes winning a trophy would mean more to supporters than achieving a respectable league position.
“We are into the Chibuku final but we have two games before the final. No one will remember a top six finish but fans will remember a trophy. We need to win the games so that when we go for the big one, we are motivated to win the trophy for our centenary celebrations,” he said.

“We are gunning for the Chibuku and we have confidence in the team and technical team,” said another supporter.
A third fan also praised the team’s progress but challenged Highlanders to maintain their improvement.

Highlanders will face TelOne on Sunday before travelling to meet Agama in their final league assignment.
Mwaruwari will hope his players maintain their form throughout these remaining fixtures.
Ultimately, lifting the Chibuku Super Cup would give Highlanders supporters a memorable centenary celebration.
