Benni McCarthy’s Kenya Crush Lesotho 4-0 to Extend Unbeaten Run
Kenya delivered an impressive performance to secure a convincing 4-0 victory over Lesotho in an international friendly at Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium on Sunday.
The result marked a dramatic turnaround from the teams’ previous meeting earlier in the week, when they settled for a 1-1 draw.

Bajaber Sets the Tone
The Harambee Stars wasted little time asserting themselves, taking the lead just eight minutes into the contest through Mohammed Bajaber.
The forward continued to trouble the Lesotho defence throughout the match and doubled Kenya’s advantage shortly after the restart, putting his side firmly in control.
His second goal in the 52nd minute gave the East Africans breathing space as they looked to make the most of their dominance.
Red Card Compounds Lesotho’s Problems
Lesotho’s task became even more difficult moments later when defender Sekhoane Moerane was dismissed for violent conduct.
Reduced to 10 men, Lesotho struggled to contain a Kenyan side that continued to press forward in search of more goals.
The numerical advantage allowed McCarthy’s men to dictate the tempo and create further scoring opportunities.
Ouma Finishes the Job
After making several substitutions in the latter stages of the match, McCarthy saw his side finish strongly.
Lawrence Ouma emerged as the hero of the closing stages, scoring twice in the final minutes of the encounter.
The midfielder found the net in the 84th minute before adding another four minutes later to complete a comprehensive victory for the Harambee Stars.
Positive Signs Ahead of AFCON Qualifiers
The win extended Kenya’s unbeaten streak to three matches and provided another encouraging result for McCarthy as he continues to shape the national team.
Since taking charge, the former South African striker has overseen 18 matches, recording seven wins, four draws and seven defeats.
Kenya will soon shift focus to the qualification campaign for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, where they are set to face South Africa’s Bafana Bafana.
The tournament will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, giving the Harambee Stars added motivation to build momentum ahead of the continental showpiece.
