Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry Tongai Mafidi Mnangagwa has launched Hunyani United Football Club.
The club was officially registered last Friday. It will compete in the Mashonaland East Division Two league.
Club Aims to Develop Local Talent
Mnangagwa said the team will empower young people in Hunyani Constituency. He represents the constituency in the National Assembly.
He said the club will create opportunities for local football talent.
“This is a proud moment for us, and we are committed to nurturing local talent and promoting football in the region, particularly in Hunyani Constituency.
“This club has been founded to give youth in the constituency a platform to showcase their talents.
“Only players from Hunyani will be signed for the club. We have a clear vision for the club, and we are excited to see it come to life.”
Focus on Grassroots Growth and Leadership
Mnangagwa emphasised building team spirit and developing future stars. He wants success to grow from grassroots development, not “buying” players.
Jeremy Tongai Mnangagwa serves as club chairman. Basil Makoni will coach the team. Knowmore Chiveve is the team manager. Armstrong Chimanimire is responsible for kit management.
