Big milestone: Orlando Pirates star Deon Hotto joins an elite company

Deon Hotto has joined Orlando Pirates’ exclusive 300-game club at age 35. This milestone highlights his consistency and dedication.

Hotto joined the Buccaneers from Bidvest Wits in 2020. The move followed the sale of Wits’ PSL status. Soon after, he became a key player in the Pirates squad.

Over the years, Hotto earned praise for reliability and hard work. Consequently, coaches regularly trusted him in crucial matches.

Pirates Celebrate Veteran Star

Orlando Pirates praised Hotto after he reached the major milestone.

“𝟑𝟎𝟎 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐎𝐮𝐭. Congratulations to Deon Hotto on reaching 300 appearances,” the club said. “A milestone built on consistency and dedication.” Hotto’s work rate and stamina continue to impress teammates and coaches. In addition, his tactical discipline strengthens the team every week.

His time at Pirates also matches a successful era in cup competitions. Therefore, the Namibian veteran helped the club secure several major trophies.

Reinventing Himself and Winning Titles

Initially, Hotto arrived as an attacking winger. However, he gradually reinvented himself as a top left-back.

Today, many consider him one of the best left-backs in PSL history. His versatility allowed Pirates to benefit from his attacking and defensive qualities.

Notably, Hotto started and won five MTN8 finals with Pirates. Those victories came in 2020, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025.

Meanwhile, speculation sometimes linked him with overseas moves or retirement. Nevertheless, Hotto recently reaffirmed his commitment to the Buccaneers.

He signed a contract extension that runs until June 2027.
