2 Suspects Linked To Bulawayo Businessman Murder Killed In Police Shoot-Out
The investigation into the murder of Bulawayo businessman Tedious Rutanhira has taken a major turn, with police confirming that two suspects linked to the case were killed in a shoot-out, while four others were arrested.
Rutanhira, 52, was shot dead during an armed robbery in central Bulawayo on 14 September 2026. Police said the suspects were also linked to a string of 10 armed robbery cases in Bulawayo and surrounding areas.
Two Suspects Killed In Police Shoot-Out
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) identified the two deceased suspects as Mehluli “Mamba” Ncube, 45, and Muzi Richard Fambirai Moyo, 45.
Four other suspects were arrested. They are Shelton Jubane, 37, Charles Ndlovu, 52, Prince Chisale and Clive Ncube, 27.
In a statement reported by The Chronicle on 18 September, police confirmed:
“The ZRP confirms a shoot-out incident involving the suspects linked to the case resulting in the death of Mehluli Ncube (45) alias Mamba as well as Muzi Richard Fambirai Moyo (45) and the subsequent arrest of Shelton Jubane (37), Charles Ndlovu (52), Prince Chisale and Clive Ncube (27).”
Rutanhira Was Killed During Robbery
Police said Rutanhira was attacked at about 11PM after closing his business and heading towards his son’s vehicle.
The suspects allegedly fled with his bag containing US$10,000 (approximately R162,958 at the current exchange rate) and a pistol.
Police said a detailed statement would be released on 19 September 2026.
Ncube was a businessman in Insuza who owned lodges and shops and was also involved in football sponsorship and live music events.
The latest arrests and shootout represent a significant development in the investigation, with police expected to provide further details.
