Martin Muduva’s Marriage Comes Under Spotlight After Businesswoman’s Explosive Claims
Businesswoman Hazel Silibaziso Mafu has made fresh claims about the marriage of slain Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission (ZHRC) Commissioner Martin Muduva, alleging that his wife, Lyliosa Chirara, had been involved with multiple men and that their relationship was marked by conflict.
Mafu’s claims emerged on 11 September 2026, two days after Muduva was allegedly killed at his home in Harare.
Mafu Details Alleged Marital Problems
According to Mafu’s Facebook post, Muduva had previously spoken to her about difficulties in his marriage.
She recalled one meeting where she said Muduva arrived late and appeared exhausted after an alleged confrontation at home.
Mafu wrote:
“You told me you’d escaped a fight at home with your wife’s mobile phone, just to make it to that meeting.”
She further claimed that Muduva had discovered alleged affairs involving his wife.
“You hadn’t slept all night because your wife was fighting with you after you discovered her affairs with multiple men, one of whom she was even running a butchery with. I was in shock.”
These allegations have not been independently verified.
Muduva Remembered As Friend And Mentor
Mafu also described Muduva as a close friend, mentor and fellow board member.
She said she had tried to support him through difficulties in his marriage and expressed regret over missing his calls on Tuesday night, shortly before his death.
“I told myself I’d call you back in the morning. I didn’t know that would be the last chance I’d have.”
Muduva was a former Zimbabwe National Army officer and Midlands State University lecturer.
What Happened To Martin Muduva?
Chirara, a nurse at Sally Mugabe Central Hospital, is alleged to have attacked Muduva with an axe while he was asleep before ingesting suspected rat poison.
The circumstances surrounding the deaths remain under investigation, while allegations about the couple’s marriage continue to emerge.
The claims made by Mafu should therefore be treated as allegations and not established facts.
Earlier Claims About Muduva’s Relationship
Questions about Muduva’s personal life emerged following his death, with reports alleging a relationship with Patience Mangwiro, an acting director at Midlands State University.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged relationship and its connection, if any, to the tragedy remain subject to investigation.
