CAPS United Drop More Points in Title Chase

CAPS United lost more ground in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title race after drawing 2-2 with Triangle United on Saturday.

The result came during Matchday 20 and left the Green Machine with 34 points in third place. They now trail league leaders Scottland by nine points. Malawian striker Chawanangwa Kaonga opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 31st minute.

However, Triangle quickly responded through Aaron Zeka seven minutes later. Zeka fired home a brilliant volley to level the match. Triangle grabbed the lead just before the break.

Stephen Zhogi’s overhead kick troubled goalkeeper Wallace Magalane, who failed to keep the ball out.

The mistake allowed Triangle to head into half-time with the advantage. CAPS United fought back in the 78th minute through Kaonga’s second goal.

The equaliser sparked controversy after Kaonga appeared to obstruct the Triangle goalkeeper. However, the referee allowed the goal to stand.
