Dispute Over Unpaid Rentals Escalates

Harare Provincial Police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the incident and said Sihlangu had been arrested and was facing attempted murder charges.

Police said the confrontation began when Chiriseri went to the home of Sihlangu’s sister, Nomisilo Nyathi, to demand payment for outstanding rentals.

According to police, Nyathi told Chiriseri that she had not yet secured the money.

The situation allegedly escalated when Chiriseri took Nyathi’s sofas and loaded them onto a push cart before contacting Sihlangu’s brother.

Alleged Assault Before Car Incident

Police said Sihlangu later arrived at his sister’s home after being informed about the dispute.

A misunderstanding reportedly broke out between him and Chiriseri, during which the woman allegedly bit Sihlangu’s left middle finger before leaving the scene.

Police said the two later crossed paths when Sihlangu was travelling to Chitungwiza Hospital.

It was during this encounter that he allegedly struck Chiriseri with his vehicle.

Police Investigation Underway

Inspector Chakanza said investigations were continuing, with Sihlangu now set to face the attempted murder allegations.

The incident highlights how disputes over unpaid debts and rentals can escalate into violent confrontations if not resolved through legal channels.
