Decision looms: Kaizer Chiefs to axe 6 players?

With just over a month left, Kaizer Chiefs face crucial decisions. The 2025/26 Betway Premiership season is nearing its conclusion.

The club must decide on its coaching setup first. Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze have impressed this season. They could finish third and secure CAF Confederation Cup qualification.

If retained, the coaches will reshape the squad. Consequently, several players could leave the club.

Sirino’s Future Uncertain

Gaston Sirino is among players facing an uncertain future. At 35, he has struggled to make a strong impact. He scored once in 24 appearances across all competitions.

Recently, Sirino featured against Polokwane City. However, he failed to influence the match significantly.

Kaze explained his decision to introduce the winger.
“They are players that have a lot of potential and as well, there is a big squad,” said Kaze when asked about the two players.

“And I feel as well that they contributed today very well to the game and the competition is good between the players and everyone is working really hard to get his chance.”

Meanwhile, Sirino’s contract expires in June. He will likely leave unless he shines against Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates.

More Exits Expected at Chiefs

Additionally, several players could depart after June. These include Fiacre Ntwari, George Matlou, Ashley Du Preez, Reeve Frosler, and Thabo Cele.

Frosler and Cele have received limited opportunities this season. At right-back, coaches prefer Dillan Solomons or Thabiso Monyane.

In midfield, Siphesihle Ndlovu, Lebohang Maboe, and Sibongiseni Mthethwa are often selected. As a result, Cele usually appears only in the second half.

Therefore, he could leave, especially if the current coaches remain.
