DeMbare DotComs Raises US$1,730 For Ronald Mujuru As Rival Fans Across Zimbabwe Unite

DeMbare DotComs has raised US$1,730 (approximately R32,900) in funeral contributions for Ronald Mujuru, with rival football fans across Zimbabwe uniting to support the grieving Dynamos supporter following the tragic loss of his wife and five children in a road accident.

The funds were mobilised through the popular Dynamos fan platform, DeMbare DotComs, before representatives handed over US$1,680 (approximately R31,950) to the Mujuru family on 11 April 2026. An amount of US$50 (approximately R950) was deducted to cover withdrawal charges.

Importantly, organisers clarified during the handover that the donations were not limited to Dynamos supporters. Instead, football fans from different clubs across Zimbabwe contributed, with DeMbare DotComs serving as the platform to mobilise assistance nationwide.

The gesture has since drawn widespread praise, with many Zimbabweans describing it as unity beyond football rivalries.

Nationwide Support Mobilised Through DeMbare DotComs

According to journalist Yvonne Mangunda on X on 11 April 2026, the funds were collected after the Dynamos supporter lost his entire family in a tragic accident.

Mangunda wrote:

“Dynamos fanpage DeMbare DotComs raise USD$1730 yechema for fellow Dynamos supporter Ronald Mujuru who lost his wife and five kids in a car accident. Yesterday the representatives handed over $1680 to the family of the amount as $50 was for charges incurred withdrawing the money.”

During the handover, representatives behind DeMbare DotComs emphasised that contributions came from football supporters across Zimbabwe, including rival teams.

The platform was used as a central mobilisation point to coordinate assistance from across the country.

Social media reactions praised the initiative.

One user wrote:

“Ubuntu at its highest level. Zvotendwa (Thank you).”

Another commented:

“Well done Dembare for being a family member of Mujuru.”

However, some users questioned the withdrawal charges.

One user wrote:

“$50 bank charges…..this is excessive….”

Despite this, the gesture received overwhelming support from Zimbabweans.

Tragedy That Shocked The Nation

Ronald Mujuru lost his wife Lilian (40) and their five children in a horrific accident on 3 April 2026 along the Harare–Masvingo highway near the Chatsworth turn-off.

The children were identified as Nokutenda (15), Makanaka (13), Ronald Junior (11), Rufaro Shalom (7), and Kayden (3).

Dynamos Football Club issued a condolence message following the tragedy.

The club said:

“To Ronald Snr and the entire Mujuru family, we as Dynamos Football Club send our sincere condolences following the tragic passing of Lillian, Nokutenda, Makanaka, Ronald Jr, Rufaro and Kayden.”

“We pray God will help and guide you through this difficult time of bereavement.”

On 8 April 2026, Dynamos players and executives visited Mujuru at his home in Tynwald North.

During the visit, Mujuru expressed appreciation for the support.

Dynamos also gifted Mujuru a VVIP season ticket for the remainder of the year.

Football Rivals Unite In Support

The fundraising initiative has been widely seen as a powerful example of unity within Zimbabwe’s football community.

Supporters from different clubs, along with ordinary Zimbabweans, contributed through the DeMbare DotComs platform to assist Mujuru during his time of grief.
