Dynamos Banks on Incentives to Motivate Players in Relegation Battle

According to The Herald, Dynamos Football Club is offering US$350–US$400 as winning bonuses as the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) season enters its most decisive stretch.

A new partner has reportedly stepped in to support the struggling giants in their bid to avoid relegation. As part of this intervention, players could earn even more than the stipulated bonuses in certain matches.

The club hopes these incentives will boost players’ morale and motivation, which they believe is key to staying afloat in the top flight

Deep in the Danger Zone

Dynamos are currently languishing near the bottom of the PSL table, with just 16 points from 23 games. With only 11 games remaining, they are eight points adrift of safety, and relegation is now a genuine threat for the 21-time league champions.

The club, once a symbol of dominance, now finds itself clinging to survival in what has been a nightmare season.

Rocky Season and Coaching Changes

The 2025 campaign has been turbulent for the Glamour Boys. It began under coach Lloyd “MaBlanyo” Chigowe, who was replaced by Saul Chaminuka, and now Zambian pastor-cum-coach Kelvin Kaindu has been brought in to take over the reins in a last-ditch attempt to change the club’s fortunes.

Executive Chairman Speaks Out

Dynamos executive chairman Moses Maunganidze acknowledged the crisis and laid out the club’s survival strategy.

We should admit that times are hard for us in the field of play. Sometimes things work, sometimes they don’t. It’s been the latter for us for the past 23 games.

“We have changed coaches and still the positive results never came. It’s been a rocky phase. But let me be clear — there has never been a month that the players were not paid as some people want to peddle,” Maunganidze said.

Psychologists Hired to Boost Mentality

In addition to financial incentives, the club has also roped in a team of psychologists to work with players on their mental strength and morale.

We have also sought to invest in the players’ mentality. We have hired a team of psychologists to help the team. They started working with the players last week and the attitude is now better. We will move along with the team of those psychologists until the end of the season,” said Maunganidze.

With the club’s sponsors Sakunda Holdings still providing financial support, Dynamos now hopes that this renewed focus on psychology and performance rewards will help steer them away from the relegation zone.
