An Epworth woman has been arrested after stabbing her husband over a loan shark debt. The altercation, which police confirm occurred this past Wednesday, is said to have stemmed from immense pressure due to unpaid debts. Authorities were called to the scene following reports of a severe stabbing.
According to a statement released by the Zimbabwe Republic Police on X, 31-year-old Tafadzwa Mandaza was arrested at the scene. The victim of the attack was her 35-year-old husband, Abraham Chirivhayo. The police communiqué detailed the grim circumstances, stating:
“The ZRP confirms the arrest of Tafadzwa Mandaza (31) in Epworth on 23/10/25 in connection with the stabbing of her husband, Abraham Chirivhayo (35), with a knife during a dispute over debts to loan sharks.”

Neighbours who witnessed the aftermath described a scene of pure horror. They discovered Chirivhayo in an agonising state, desperately clutching his abdomen as he lay in a pool of his own blood.
The violence of the attack was severe, leaving the man with a catastrophic injury. Emergency services were swiftly summoned, and he was transported to a nearby medical facility for urgent, life-saving treatment. The police update provided a chilling medical assessment, confirming:
“The complainant has since been referred to a local hospital for medical attention after sustaining a deep cut on the stomach, resulting in protruding intestines. More details regarding the complainant’s condition will be released in due course.”

Local sources indicate that the couple’s quarrel began shortly after a visit from aggressive moneylenders, known locally as mashurugwi, who were demanding immediate repayment of a significant sum. The financial strain reportedly sparked a furious row between the couple, which rapidly spiralled out of control. The argument, born from desperation and fear, ultimately culminated in the alleged use of a kitchen knife as a weapon.
