The Football Association has broken its silence after Manchester City’s landmark Premier League verdict.
An independent Commission found Manchester City guilty of serious financial rule breaches. The findings covered a nine-season period between 2009/10 and 2017/18.
The FA has now acknowledged the significance of the decision. However, it stopped short of announcing immediate disciplinary action against the club.
FA highlights integrity concerns
In a statement released on Friday, the FA stressed the wider implications of the verdict.
“The Independent Commission’s decision has significant implications for the integrity of the game.
“We are carefully considering the decision and its implications and will take action where appropriate.”
The statement signals that the governing body is assessing the findings before deciding its next steps.
Meanwhile, the Premier League has confirmed that the sanction against Manchester City has not yet been determined.
The Commission found that City breached financial rules and failed to cooperate fully with the Premier League investigation.
The findings also concerned commercial arrangements and financial reporting during the period under investigation.

FA refuses to comment further
Despite acknowledging the importance of the verdict, the FA has avoided discussing potential punishment.
“As proceedings between the Premier League and Manchester City Football Club remain ongoing, we do not intend to comment further at this stage.
“We will, however, continue to monitor developments closely.”
Manchester City has the right to appeal the Commission’s findings. The club’s appeal deadline is Friday, October 2.
Therefore, the legal process remains ongoing despite the Commission’s findings.
The FA’s latest statement leaves open the possibility of further action.
For now, however, the governing body says it will continue assessing the situation.
The FA’s statement adds another layer to one of English football’s most significant disciplinary cases.
