Families Of ZHRC Commissioner Martin Muduva And Wife Yet To Agree On Burial
The families of Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission (ZHRC) Commissioner Dr Martin Muduva and his wife, Lyliosa Chirara, are yet to reach an agreement on how and where the couple will be laid to rest following their deaths.
The disagreement has emerged as relatives and friends gather to mourn the couple, with discussions reportedly becoming tense as the two families try to reconcile their different views on the funeral arrangements.
Families Seek Common Ground
Muduva, 42, died on Wednesday at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals after reportedly succumbing to injuries sustained during the incident involving the couple.
His wife, Chirara, 43, ingested poison and died shortly afterwards.
With the circumstances surrounding the deaths still under scrutiny, the families have been left to deal with both their loss and difficult decisions concerning the couple’s final rites.
Speaking to The Herald, a relative close to both families said they had not yet reached an agreement.
“We are yet to agree on the burial arrangements of the two,” the relative said.
The families have since opted to continue their discussions at a neutral venue in an attempt to resolve their differences and reach consensus.
Wake Draws Colleagues And Health Workers
The couple’s wake has brought together relatives, friends and colleagues from different institutions.
Officials from the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission are among those attending, while health workers from Ruwa Rehabilitation Centre have also joined mourners following Chirara’s transfer to the facility before her death.
The gathering has provided an opportunity for those who knew the couple to offer support to the bereaved families as they await clarity on the funeral arrangements.
Families Await Answers
For the mourners, the unresolved questions surrounding the couple’s deaths remain a major concern.
As the families continue consultations, representatives from both sides are expected to keep engaging in an effort to overcome their differences and agree on arrangements that will allow Muduva and Chirara to be laid to rest with dignity.
