Khumalo Family Appeals For Help To Repatriate Loved Ones From The UK
The family of Nothabo Zandile Khumalo has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the costs of repatriating her and her two daughters from the United Kingdom to Zimbabwe, as well as funeral-related expenses.
The appeal comes as the family mourns the deaths of Nothabo, 42, Natalie, 15, and Nala, 5, while the man accused of killing them remains in custody in South Africa pending extradition proceedings.
GoFundMe Launched To Cover Repatriation And Funeral Costs
In a statement published on the GoFundMe page, the Khumalo and Magonya families said Sharon Khumalo had been authorised to establish and manage the campaign on their behalf.
The family explained that the fundraiser followed requests from friends, relatives, schoolmates, alumni and members of the wider community who wanted to offer support.
The family said:
“We as the family of the deceased have authorised our Aunt Sharon Khumalo to establish, set up and manage this GoFundMe campaign on our behalf and to coordinate the funds raised ensuring also that rules, regulations and transparency is complied with.”
They added that delays in accessing the deceased’s funds had made the campaign necessary.
“Access to the deceased funds is proving complex and lengthy given the circumstances of their passing, hence the need for funds to lay them to rest in a timely manner.”
Family Thanks Well-Wishers As Support Grows
The family said they had been encouraged by the response from people touched by the tragedy.
“We have lost a daughter, a sister and two grand daughters. The world will never be the same again.”
They added:
“Any such support received will immediately assist with repatriation, burial and other related expenses as we prepare to bring them to Zimbabwe from the United Kingdom. We warmly appreciate every contribution, prayer, message of comfort and the sharing of this campaign.”
Ndodana Tshuma Remains In Custody
The appeal comes as Zimbabwean-born Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma remains in custody in South Africa.
Recent court proceedings confirmed he abandoned his bail application for a second time. His case was postponed to 27 August 2026 while South African authorities continue the extradition process to the United Kingdom, where he is wanted in connection with the deaths of Nothabo and the two girls.
The family continues to seek support as preparations are made to return their loved ones to Zimbabwe for burial.
