Monster Jailed 20 Years For Heinous Assault On Infant Sisters
A 33-year-old man from Filabusi has been sentenced to an effective 20 years behind bars after being convicted of sexually assaulting two infant sisters aged three years and seven months. The sentence was handed down by the Gwanda Regional Magistrates’ Court following an incident that shocked the local community and drew renewed attention to crimes against children.
The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) confirmed the conviction and sentence in a bulletin issued on 1 June 2026.
Mother Returned Home After Hearing Infant Crying
The court heard that the incident occurred on 24 February 2026 at around 11:00am in the Chief Maduna area of Filabusi.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), the children’s mother had left the youngsters at their homestead while she worked in nearby fields.
While carrying out her work, she reportedly heard the seven-month-old infant crying and decided to return home to investigate.
The NPAZ said:
“While in the fields, the mother heard the infant crying, prompting her to return home to check on them.”
Upon arriving at the homestead, she allegedly discovered that the children’s clothing had been tampered with.
The authority stated that the suspect was found at the scene and that his clothing was in disarray.
The NPAZ further noted:
“Upon arrival, she noticed that the children’s clothes had been tampered with, and the offender was caught at the scene with his clothing completely disarranged.”
Children Taken For Medical Examination
The matter was subsequently reported to the police.
Authorities said the two children were referred to Filabusi District Hospital for medical examinations as part of the investigation.
The case was later brought before the courts, where the accused faced two counts relating to the assault of the two minors.
According to the NPAZ, evidence gathered during investigations led to a conviction.
Court Orders Concurrent Sentences
The Gwanda Regional Magistrates’ Court sentenced the offender to 20 years’ imprisonment on each count.
However, the court ordered that the sentences run concurrently.
The NPAZ explained:
“The court sentenced the offender to 20 years’ imprisonment for each count. The sentences will run concurrently, leaving an effective 20-year prison term.”
In its statement, the prosecuting authority reiterated the importance of protecting children from abuse and ensuring that offences against minors are dealt with through the justice system.
The conviction was announced in the NPAZ bulletin dated 1 June 2026.
