Bulawayo Worker Arrested Over Killing Of Foreign Employer In Front Of Family

A foreign businessman was allegedly killed in front of his family during a violent night-time attack at his Bulawayo home, with police later arresting one of his employees over the shocking incident.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed that Kelvin Matambudziko Ndavambi (24) was arrested in connection with the death of 67-year-old Noor Hussein, who was attacked on 9 May 2026 in Khumalo suburb, Bulawayo.

Police say the businessman was attacked inside his home while his family watched in horror before the suspects fled the scene after an alarm was raised.

Police Arrest Suspect While Trying To Leave City

In a statement released on 14 May 2026, Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the suspect was arrested days after the fatal incident while allegedly trying to board a bus to Harare from Bulawayo’s Central Business District.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police has arrested Kelvin Matambudziko Ndavambi (24) for killing his employer, a foreign national, Noor Hussein (67) on 9th May 2026 while trying to rob him and his family in Khumalo area, Bulawayo,” Commissioner Nyathi said.

Police said the suspect allegedly carried out the attack with another man identified only as Dhlamini, who remains on the run.

According to investigators, the two allegedly went to the businessman’s residence armed with pistols and wooden planks before attacking him during the night.

“The suspect who was in the company of an accomplice identified as Dhlamini went to the businessman’s residence and attacked him during the night while armed with pistols, wooden planks and strangled him with a towel in front of his family,” Nyathi added.

The ZRP said the suspects fled after the family raised the alarm, prompting nearby relatives to rush to the house.

Family Witnessed Horror Attack

Details released by police indicate that the attack happened inside the family home in Khumalo suburb, one of Bulawayo’s well-known residential areas.

Investigators say Noor Hussein was allegedly strangled with a towel during the attack while members of his family were present.

Police have not yet disclosed additional details about the motive beyond the alleged robbery attempt.

The incident has drawn attention in Bulawayo due to the violent circumstances surrounding the businessman’s death and the allegation that one of his own employees was involved.

Police Hunt Second Suspect

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has appealed for information that may assist in locating the second suspect, Dhlamini.

“Meanwhile, the Police is appealing for information which may lead to the arrest of Dhlamini,” Nyathi said.

Members of the public with information have been urged to contact the National Complaints Desk on (0242) 703631 or WhatsApp 0712 800 197, or report at any nearest police station.

The matter is expected to proceed through the courts following Ndavambi’s arrest.
