Knowledge Musona Parts Ways with Saudi Club Al-Okhdood
Former Kaizer Chiefs star Knowledge Musona is on the hunt for a new club after Saudi Pro League side Al-Okhdood reportedly released him. The 35-year-old forward leaves after just one season with the club, where he made 30 appearances, scoring five goals and providing three assists.
Musona had an option to extend his contract by another year, but Al-Okhdood decided against it. He was released along with six other players, including Nigerian attacker Saviour Godwin and Guinea’s Ousmane Barry.
Musona Among Several Stars Let Go By Saudi Club
Joining Musona on the exit list are Damion Lowe and three Brazilians — Paulo Vitor, Petros Matheus, and Diego Souza. Musona will now be looking for his next move as he remains keen to continue playing.
This marks the end of Musona’s third stint in the Saudi Pro League, following previous spells at Al Tai and Al Riyadh.
Zimbabwe Awaits Musona’s Next Move
With his playing career entering its final years, many Zimbabweans are eager to see where Musona goes next, especially with the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on the horizon.
Musona initially retired from international football in 2022 after leading Zimbabwe at the 2021 AFCON. However, he made a surprise comeback earlier this year after a three-year absence and featured in Zimbabwe’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Benin and Nigeria. National team coaches praised his return, saying his experience is crucial for rebuilding the Warriors squad.
In South Africa, Musona remains a beloved figure, especially among Kaizer Chiefs supporters. The prolific striker scored over 40 goals and provided 19 assists during his two spells with Amakhosi. He also picked up several individual accolades, including the prestigious Golden Boot Award, cementing his status as one of Zimbabwe’s finest exports.
