Four Men Arrested Over US$50,000 Poker Scam at Suncity Casino After Getting Caught on CCTV
Police have arrested four men, including two Chinese nationals, for defrauding of a Chinese-owned casino of US$50,000.
The scam was uncovered after CCTV footage captured the accused violating casino rules at Suncity Casino.
Four Face Charges Under Gaming Laws
The accused are Chaojie Wang (37), Zhang Pingping, Rodgers Nchema (28) and Wellington Chisamba (35).
They are facing charges of cheating in contravention of Section 61 of the Lotteries and Gaming Act.

Prosecutors Outline Alleged Inside Job
The fraud, which involved Niu Niu Poker games, occurred over several weeks between January 13 and February 3, 2026.
According to the State, Wang and Zhang allegedly manipulated gameplay by exchanging cards and increasing chip values after rounds had already ended.
The poker scheme was reportedly facilitated by casino employees Nchema and Chisamba, who allegedly accepted bribes to overlook the violations.
Surveillance Footage at Centre of Case
The court heard that Niu Niu Poker rules strictly prohibit card exchanges, chip alterations after play, and any form of inducement involving casino staff.
Investigators allege that CCTV footage captured repeated breaches of these rules, enabling the accused to generate unlawful winnings.
Authorities confirmed that the full US$50,000 lost by the casino has not been recovered.
Court Rejects Challenge to Remand
Meanwhile, the four accused reportedly challenged their placement on remand when they appeared in court over the weekend.
Magistrate Ruth Moyo dismissed the application, ruling that the State had presented sufficient grounds to justify continued detention.
As a result, the accused were remanded in custody. They are expected back in court today for a full bail hearing.
