Councils Told To Purchase Mnangagwa Biography In New Government Directive
Local authorities across Zimbabwe have been directed to purchase copies of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s biography to “benefit their communities,” following a government communication sent to councils nationwide.
A letter dated 31 March 2026 from the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works instructs town clerks, town secretaries and chief executive officers to arrange for the procurement of the book titled A Life of Sacrifice.
The directive, signed by Permanent Secretary Dr J. Basera, urges councils to purchase the biography and distribute it within their communities, including schools.
“In this regard, you are implored to make the necessary arrangements to procure this invaluable book for the benefit of your communities,” reads part of the communication dated 31 March 2026 and stamped 02 April 2026.
The letter was addressed to all Town Clerks, Town Secretaries and Chief Executive Officers across Zimbabwe.
Councils Urged To Buy Revised 2026 Edition
The Ministry explained that the biography of President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa was first launched in 2021 at State House.
Officials indicated that a revised edition has now been produced in 2026.
“As you may be aware, ‘A Life of Sacrifice’ the biography of His Excellency, the President, Dr E.D. Mnangagwa was launched in 2021 at State House,” the Ministry said.
The communication further stated:Jarach Media, Zimbabwe Local Authorities, Government Of Zimbabwe, President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Zimbabwe Councils, Zimbabwe Government Directive
“Accordingly, a revised and translated version has been produced in 2026 by the official author and publisher, Jarach Media. The latest edition is translated into Shona, Ndebele and Tonga.”
Authorities said the translated versions were aimed at widening accessibility to communities across the country.
Price Of The Biography Revealed
The Ministry also outlined the cost of the book and encouraged bulk purchases.
According to the communication, each copy of the biography is priced at US$17 (approximately R315).
Bulk orders of 100 copies or more attract a discounted price of US$15 per copy (approximately R278).
Officials stated that the publisher is appealing for support from institutions and individuals.
“The publisher is appealing for the purchase of the book by various individuals and institutions and the same to be distributed to schools,” the letter reads.
The Ministry added:
“The biography provides a close insight into the life and journey of one of Zimbabwe’s illustrious sons.”
The directive concludes with the instruction:
“Be guided accordingly.”
Directive Sent To Local Authorities Nationwide
The communication was circulated to local authorities across Zimbabwe and addressed to senior municipal leadership.
It was issued under the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works, headquartered in Causeway, Harare.
The instruction comes ahead of ongoing government programmes involving local authorities and community engagement initiatives in 2026.
Authorities have not publicly indicated how many copies councils are expected to purchase.
