Government has warned that security forces are fully prepared to deal with any unlawful activities linked to the planned July 31 protests.
Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Minister Kazembe Kazembe said authorities remain committed to protecting peace and maintaining public order. He stressed that Zimbabwe operates under the rule of law.
Government warns against unlawful protests
Addressing the planned demonstrations, Kazembe said law enforcement agencies are ready to respond to any illegal actions.
“This is a country governed by laws. This is a country with law enforcement agencies. I can assure you that nothing of that sort will happen. Law enforcement agents will be ready and waiting,” he said.
Furthermore, the minister urged citizens to resolve concerns through legal and constitutional channels. He said unlawful actions would not be tolerated.
“People have spoken, people are happy, and things have been done constitutionally. Therefore, it would be unreasonable for anyone to think of doing anything unlawful on July 31,” he said.
Authorities pledge to maintain peace
Kazembe also acknowledged that people have the right to express their opinions. However, he warned that authorities would act against anyone who breaks the law.
He maintained that security agencies would continue monitoring the situation to ensure public safety.
“People can say whatever they want on social media. However, I can assure you that this is a peaceful country, and there will be peace and tranquillity come July 31,” he said.
The minister’s remarks come as authorities continue to monitor developments ahead of the planned demonstrations. Government insists it will enforce the law while preserving peace across the country.
