Dispute Allegedly Triggered by Phone Call
According to The Herald, tensions between Givemore Tawanda Madzinga and his wife, Nelisa Madzinga (40), began on Thursday evening after he received a phone call believed to be from another woman.
The disagreement is said to have escalated overnight, with the situation worsening the following morning.
Violence Unfolds at Family Home
On Friday, Madzinga allegedly assaulted his wife and their children at their home along Castle Close in Glen Lorne. Nelisa is reported to have urged him to report the matter at ZRP Highlands, but he reportedly refused.
She then decided to leave the house to make a report herself.
As she descended the stairs towards the garage, she reportedly heard gunshots moments before feeling a sharp pain on her shoulder blade.
Gunfire in Presence of Children
The couple’s four children, aged 14, 12, 9, and 8, were present during the incident.
A neighbour who responded to the sound of gunfire said they discovered Madzinga’s body inside the home with a gunshot wound to the neck, while Nelisa had been injured.
“We heard gunshots and when we got into the house, we found Tawanda with a gunshot wound on the right side of the neck,” the neighbour said.
They added that Nelisa explained the dispute had started after her husband received a call from his alleged girlfriend.
Victim Hospitalised, Weapon Recovered
Nelisa was rushed to Avenues Clinic, where she was admitted for treatment after sustaining a shoulder injury.
A licensed 6.35mm FN Browning pistol, registered under Madzinga’s company, was recovered beside his body at the scene.
His body was later taken to Parirenyatwa Hospital Mortuary for post-mortem examination.
Police Investigation Underway
Authorities are continuing investigations into the circumstances surrounding the shooting, which has left a family and community reeling from the violent turn of events.
