Alleged Dispute Over Mining Equipment Turns Violent

The court heard that Moyo and the complainant had previously worked together at Stories Mine in Mazowe, where the complainant was employed as an artisanal miner.

Prosecutor Lancelot Mutsokoti told the court that in October 2025, Moyo entrusted the complainant with managing mining operations in his absence. However, the complainant allegedly sold the mining equipment and fled without informing his employer.

Upon discovering the alleged loss, Moyo reportedly tracked the complainant to Helensvale squatter camp in Borrowdale. On February 10, 2026, at around 7pm, Moyo is said to have approached the complainant’s shack armed with a pistol.

The court heard that the complainant was asleep at the time. Sensing danger, he allegedly ran out of the shack, but Moyo is accused of firing multiple shots in his direction, striking him once in the left thigh.

Represented by lawyer Claude Bare, Moyo was granted US$100 bail. The matter has been remanded for further proceedings.
