Affair Turns Costly

According to court papers seen by The Herald, Kwenda and the complainant, businessman Pax Jemwa, were involved in an extramarital relationship beginning around February last year.

It is alleged that during the course of the affair, Kwenda claimed she had fallen pregnant with Jemwa’s child and began requesting money for her upkeep.

Believing the claims, Jemwa reportedly provided financial support throughout the supposed pregnancy.

False Birth Claims and Growing Suspicion

The situation escalated when Kwenda allegedly informed Jemwa that she had given birth to a baby boy in December, whom she named Ronald.

However, when Jemwa requested to see the child, he was reportedly met with repeated excuses, even as the demands for money continued.

Suspicion grew after Jemwa was tipped off by a third party that Kwenda had never been pregnant.

Threats After Exposure

After confronting the reality of the situation and halting financial support, Jemwa was allegedly threatened by Kwenda, who warned she would reveal their affair to his wife.

Fearing reputational damage, Jemwa reported the matter to the police, leading to Kwenda’s arrest.

More Victims Emerge

Investigations have since uncovered that Kwenda may have used a similar scheme on another victim, allegedly claiming she had given birth to twins and demanding maintenance.
