Marshall Munetsi Backs Orlando Pirates Star Relebohile Mofokeng to Take Big Step to Europe
Zimbabwean footballer Marshall Munetsi has thrown his weight behind Orlando Pirates youngster Relebohile Mofokeng.
He tipped him as the next player to make the leap to European football.
“It’s the Right Time”: Marshall Munetsi Believes Mofokeng is Ready for Europe
Marshall Munetsi expressed strong belief in Relebohile Mofokeng’s potential, stressing that the youngster should not delay a move abroad.
Speaking on Michael Morton’s Pirates Podcast, the Zimbabwean international said he felt Mofokeng was ready to take the next step in his football career.
“I think Rele is…I probably think he’s ready. I think it’s always the right time to move when you’re young,” Munetsi said.
Call for Right Guidance
According to idiskitimes, Munetsi stressed the importance of proper advice and management as Mofokeng weighs his next career step.
“I hope that people that are surrounding him will probably give him the best advice to move.
I think for me, he’s the one when you look on paper, if you look talent wise with the future that he has, I think he can do it.
Because if he’s able to perform at a high level for Orlando Pirates also for South Africa, why not probably move to Europe?”

Benni McCarthy Echoes Support
Munetsi’s sentiments echo those of former Bafana Bafana striker Benni McCarthy, who publicly backed Mofokeng in July. McCarthy described the teenager as a player with outstanding potential and the right mindset to thrive abroad.
“I’ve watched him several times, and I think he’s got huge potential. He’s got the mentality, the football brains, and the mentality of players from my generation. He’s generations ahead of the current crop of players. I think he’s got what it takes to make it in Europe. I would encourage him to find a way to play in Europe,” McCarthy said.
Scotland as a Launchpad
Drawing from his own experience across European leagues, McCarthy suggested that Mofokeng could begin his European journey in Scotland before moving to bigger leagues.
“I think he should consider going to the Scottish league, somewhere like that, so he can work his way up from there. Rangers and Celtic always need strikers they can bring on and develop before selling on to bigger clubs,” he said.
