Highlanders suffered a painful early exit from the Munhumutapa Challenge Cup after losing to Blackrock on penalties.
The Bulawayo giants drew 0-0 after regulation time at Colliery Stadium in Hwange.
Blackrock then converted five penalties to Highlanders’ three, securing their passage into the Round of 16.
The result means two of Zimbabwe’s biggest clubs have already left the competition.
Dynamos suffered a similar fate after losing 1-0 to Hwange at the same venue on Saturday.
CAPS United deliver a statement victory
While Highlanders struggled, CAPS United produced a stunning performance against Scottland Academy.
The Green Machine stormed into the next round with an emphatic 6-0 victory.
Junior Bunjira broke the deadlock after 16 minutes and gave CAPS United an early advantage.
Chawanangwa Kaonga then doubled the lead before the interval.
After the restart, Lloyd Njaliwa struck in the 55th minute to make it 3-0.
Three minutes later, Kaonga scored again and effectively ended any hopes of a comeback.
Davison Marowa added another goal before Kaonga completed his hat-trick.
Consequently, CAPS United recorded one of the tournament’s most convincing victories.
More teams secure their places
Elsewhere, FC Platinum narrowly defeated Marere FC 1-0 to progress to the next round.
Ngezi Platinum FC also advanced after overcoming Chicken Inn in a tense penalty shootout.
The match finished 0-0 before Ngezi secured a 5-4 victory from the spot.
Manica Diamonds followed after beating Simba Bhora 6-5 on penalties.
That contest ended 1-1 after 90 minutes before Manica Diamonds prevailed.
Meanwhile, FC Hunters defeated Norton Big Boys 3-1 to book their place.
Blanket Mine FC also advanced after beating TelOne FC on penalties.
The sides drew 1-1 before Blanket Mine secured a 4-3 shootout victory.
Triangle FC completed the day’s straightforward wins with a 3-0 triumph over ZPC Kariba.
