“I Make US$1000 Playing For 10 People”: Carlos Green Denies Using Older Women For Money

Afro-fusion musician Carlos Green has fiercely denied claims that he financially depends on older women, asserting that his wealth comes from highly lucrative, exclusive music performances and a portfolio of private business ventures. The artist, who found himself at the centre of a scandal after two women publicly claimed to be his wives, has broken his silence to detail the substantial earnings that fund his lifestyle.

Green directly confronted the allegations head-on, making it clear that he considers himself a hardworking businessman first and a musician second. He revealed that his income streams are diverse and substantial, allowing him to live comfortably without relying on anyone else. The musician explained that his unique selling point in the music industry is his ability to command extremely high fees for performances with very select audiences.

“I Don’t Go Home With Less Than US$1,000 Or So”

When pressed on how he sustains his finances, especially amidst swirling rumours, Green was unequivocal about the profitability of his music.

He told H-Metro:

“In my case, I can safely say music is paying off because my shows attract big spenders. I might play for 10 people or less but I can tell you that I don’t go home with less than US$1,000 (approx. R18,500) or so. I have managed to create a network of people who love my music and that alone has made me unique compared to others out there.”

Green emphasised that this is not an occasional windfall but a reliable source of income. He attributed this financial success to building a dedicated network of affluent patrons who value his art, allowing him to bypass the traditional model of playing to large, less profitable crowds.

“Carlos Green Is Not A Lazy Man”

Beyond music, Green was keen to highlight his other entrepreneurial activities. He painted a picture of a man constantly working on multiple ventures to secure his income, firmly rejecting any label of laziness or dependency.

He elaborated:

“On that note, Carlos Green is not a lazy man, by the way, because it’s hard to live a fake lifestyle. I do many things, including car sales and transport business, though on a small scale. I have some cars registered under the InDrive application, and we don’t sleep on an empty stomach.”

This diversification, he suggested, is a deliberate strategy to ensure financial stability irrespective of the fluctuating nature of the music business.

He laughed at the core allegation, drawing a clear distinction between his public persona and his private work ethic.

“The Carlos Green you see on stage and at other public functions is different from the one who works hard for his livelihood. I really work hard most of the time doing tough tasks but I always find time to take good care of myself by constantly dressing properly.”

Despite controversies over his relationships, Green insists that financially, he stands on his own two feet.
