‘Impfa Nimulandi’: Alick Macheso mourns Wicknell Chivayo

Sungura star Alick Macheso has penned an emotional message mourning Wicknell Chivayo and his wife, Lucy “Lulu” Muteke.

The businessman and his wife died in a helicopter crash in Marondera on Wednesday evening. Four other people also died in the tragedy.

Macheso shared his condolences while speaking on behalf of Orchestra Mberikwazvo.

He described the tragedy as difficult to comprehend and expressed sympathy for the affected families.

Macheso remembers Wicknell Chivayo

Macheso began his message with the words, “IMPFA NIMULANDI 🕊💔”.

The phrase means death is a thief, highlighting the sudden nature of the tragedy.

He then offered condolences to Chivayo’s family, Lulu’s family and everyone affected by the crash.

“Mhuri ye Zimbabwe pasi rose ndinotora uno mukana ndakamirira Orchestra Mberikwazvo tinopa runyararo, rudo netsitsi,” Macheso wrote.

He also prayed for strength and comfort during the painful period.

“Hazvisi nyore kutaura kana kufunga mashoko anokwana panguva yakadai,” he added.

However, Macheso urged those mourning to grieve with hope despite the heartbreaking circumstances.

“Mwari vanyaradze mhuri. Mwari vape simba kwatiri tose ticheme ne tariro,” he wrote.

‘Rufu imbavha’ — Macheso’s emotional tribute

Macheso also reflected on how unexpectedly death can take someone away.

“Impfa nimulandi — Rufu imbavha,” he wrote.

“Rufu imbavha” translates to “Death is a thief.”

He explained that death takes without warning, yet memories remain with those left behind.

The tribute ended with a final farewell to Chivayo, Lulu and the other victims.

“Rest in Peace Sir Wicknell Chivhayo & Wife Lulu ne vose vakatsakatika. 🕊”

Macheso and Chivayo had previously shared a public relationship through the businessman’s support for the musician. Chivayo gifted Macheso luxury vehicles and supported members of Orchestra Mberikwazvo.

Now, Macheso has joined many Zimbabweans mourning the sudden loss of the businessman and his wife.
