In Pictures: President Mnangagwa Commissions US$88 Million Trabablas Interchange in Harare
President Emmerson Mnangagwa has officially commissioned the Trabablas Interchange — formerly known as the Mbudzi Roundabout.
The event which took place on today (Friday, 30 May, 2025) drew large crowds eager to witness the historic moment.
The US$88 million infrastructure project is located at the intersection of Simon Mazorodze, Chitungwiza, and High Glen roads in Harare.
For years, the old Mbudzi Roundabout had been a notorious traffic choke point, particularly during peak hours, causing extensive delays and frequent accidents. The new interchange is expected to significantly ease congestion and enhance road safety in the area.

The landmark project features 15 bridges — 13 of which form part of the main interchange and two additional ones located on Amalinda Drive and Harare Drive.
Remarkably, the project was fully self-financed by Zimbabwe without any external funding. It was executed by a consortium of local companies: Tensor Systems, Fossil Contracting, and Masimba Construction.
