Black Coffee Buys R157 Million Clifton Mansion, the Most Expensive Home in Cape Town
Grammy Award-winning DJ and producer Nkosinathi “Black Coffee” Maphumulo has purchased one of South Africa’s most luxurious homes — a R157 million mansion in Clifton, Cape Town. The property, known as “The Pentagon,” sits on 5 Nettleton Road, widely regarded as the country’s most exclusive and expensive street.
According to property records, the transaction was completed through Black Coffee’s company, Little Ark Holdings, making it the highest residential property sale in South Africa this year. The home was initially listed at R160 million but was reportedly acquired for slightly less, at R157 million.
Inside “The Pentagon” — Clifton’s Architectural Masterpiece
Designed by acclaimed architect Stefan Antoni, the 940-square-meter residence offers five en-suite bedrooms, each with a private balcony overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The mansion includes a glass elevator, a fully equipped gym, a private cinema, and staff quarters.
The highlight of the home is a 16-meter heated infinity pool, offering sweeping views of the ocean and the Twelve Apostles mountain range. Additional features include parking for five cars and advanced climate control throughout the property.
A Record-Breaking Deal
The purchase of The Pentagon represents one of the largest luxury real estate transactions ever recorded in Cape Town.
Real estate analysts note that the sale reaffirms Clifton’s reputation as the epicenter of South African wealth and prestige, often attracting local and international celebrities.
Public Reactions and Timing of the Purchase
News of the multimillion-rand acquisition comes just months after Black Coffee finalized his divorce from actress Enhle Mbali, sparking public speculation about the timing of the purchase.
While the DJ has not commented on his latest property acquisition, fans and industry peers have praised his success and continued dominance in global music and business circles.
