Media personality Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye will face court again next month over firearm-related allegations.
The Germiston Magistrates’ Court postponed his case until 7 September 2026. Maarohanye missed his previous appearance because of reported health problems.
Following his absence, authorities issued a warrant for his arrest. However, the court held the warrant over until his next appearance.
Jub Jub faces two firearm-related charges
Maarohanye faces allegations linked to an incident involving an e-hailing driver. The incident reportedly happened in Edenvale on 14 June 2026.
Prosecutors accuse him of discharging a firearm in a public place. He also faces a charge involving an object resembling a firearm.
Meanwhile, investigators searched his home during their probe. Officers reportedly recovered a pellet gun during that search.
The matter previously faced delays while investigators completed outstanding aspects of their work.
State confirms readiness to proceed
The National Prosecuting Authority has now indicated that the case can move forward.
NPA Gauteng communications officer Magaboke Mohlatlole confirmed the State’s position.
“The State is ready to proceed with the prosecution and remains committed to ensuring that the matter is dealt with fairly and in accordance with the law,” NPA Gauteng communications officer Magaboke Mohlatlole said.
Maarohanye must return to the Germiston Magistrates’ Court on 7 September 2026. The proceedings will determine the next stage of the case.
