How Wicknell Chivayo Got The Name
According to Justice Chivayo, Wicknell did not choose the title for himself but was given the name by members of the Masowe church.
He said the name reflected how people viewed Wicknell’s charitable work and the impact of his efforts to assist others.
Justice Chivayo also explained that Wicknell himself questioned the meaning of the name rather than presenting himself as divine.
“Wicknell did not give himself the name ‘Mukuru weMazuva’ (Ancient of Days); he was given that name by the Masowe church because people saw God’s ability and love through Wicknell’s good deeds and the work he was doing to help others,” he said.
‘The Bigger Preacher’ Explained
Justice Chivayo also addressed another title associated with the late businessman — “The Bigger Preacher.”
He said the description was linked to Wicknell’s approach to helping people, with his acts of generosity viewed as a form of preaching through action.
“Wicknell never made himself out to be God, no. He would actually ask, ‘Father, what does this name mean?’ The name ‘The Bigger Preacher’ came about because of the work he was doing to help people — his good deeds were a form of great preaching,” he revealed.
