Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed Glody Lilepo’s departure after completing his transfer to Libyan club Al Ahly Benghazi.
The move takes effect immediately, ending Lilepo’s spell with the Soweto giants.
The Democratic Republic of Congo forward now begins a fresh chapter in North African football.
Meanwhile, Al Ahly Benghazi will hope Lilepo can strengthen their attacking options this season.
Chiefs complete Lilepo transfer
Lilepo becomes the second player Chiefs have sold during the current transfer window.
Earlier, the club allowed Aden McCarthy to join Azerbaijan outfit Sabah FK.
Moreover, Lilepo becomes the second Chiefs player to move to Libya recently.
Thatayaone Ditlhokwe previously made the switch to Libya in February 2024.
Chiefs must now manage another squad change as they prepare for the new campaign.
The club has continued strengthening its squad despite several departures.
However, Lilepo’s exit could leave Chiefs needing additional attacking depth.
Chiefs wish Lilepo well in Libya
Kaizer Chiefs confirmed the transfer through an official statement.
“Democratic Republic of Congo-born forward Glody Makabi Lilepo has completed a move from Kaizer Chiefs to Libyan side Al Ahly Benghazi, following an agreement on the transfer fee between the two Clubs,” said the club in a statement.
“The Club wishes Lilepo success in Libya and throughout the remainder of his football career.”
Lilepo will now turn his attention towards making an impact with his new Libyan club.
For Chiefs, meanwhile, the focus shifts towards building a competitive squad for the season ahead.
