Kaizer Chiefs continue reshaping their squad before the new season, with another player leaving Naturena.
Academy graduate Siyabonga Gumede has become the club’s seventh departure during the current transfer window. The move highlights Amakhosi’s ongoing squad overhaul as preparations intensify for the 2026/27 campaign.
Seven players now out of Naturena
Kaizer Chiefs have already parted ways with seven players this offseason.
The departures include Aden McCarthy, George Matlou, Happy Mashiane, Fiacre Ntwari, Tashfeeq Morris, Gaston Sirino and now Siyabonga Gumede.

McCarthy became the first player to leave the club. The defender secured a move to Azerbaijan Premier League champions Sabah SC. He completed the transfer before Fernando Da Cruz arrived as Kaizer Chiefs’ new head coach.
Meanwhile, Matlou and Mashiane exited shortly afterward. Matlou quickly signed for Stellenbosch FC. However, Mashiane failed to earn a contract after training with the Cape side. Consequently, he remains without a club.
Gumede joins growing list of exits
Goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari also left Naturena. He joined newly promoted Kruger United on a season-long loan. The switch should provide him with regular first-team football.
After that, Tashfeeq Morris completed his expected move to Durban City. The transfer had circulated for weeks before receiving official confirmation.
Soon after, Gaston Sirino reunited with former Kaizer Chiefs coach Khalil Ben Youssef at Durban City. Morris also linked up with the same coach at the KwaZulu-Natal club.
Now, Siyabonga Gumede has quietly completed his exit. The former DStv Diski Challenge captain reportedly signed with Richards Bay ahead of the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season.
His departure may have attracted less attention than others. Nevertheless, it marks another significant step in Kaizer Chiefs’ ongoing squad rebuild.
