Bernard Parker Reveals How Knowledge Musona Derailed His European Football Career

Kaizer Chiefs legend Bernard Parker has alleged that his agent, Mike Makaab, prioritized Knowledge Musona’s transfer to Europe over his own career progression.

Parker, who played for Dutch club FC Twente before returning to South Africa in 2011, believes his move back home was strategically orchestrated to facilitate Musona’s transfer to Bundesliga side TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.

“It Was a Business Decision,” Says Parker

Speaking to SABC, the former Bafana Bafana international revealed he later realised that his return to Kaizer Chiefs had more to do with business interests than his own ambitions.

“I realised why I was pushed to come back to play for Kaizer Chiefs, it was a business decision, because Knowledge Musona and I were represented by the same agent, and he wanted to get a move to Europe,” Parker said.

He added,

“After all the success at the club, I realised later on that it was a business decision… release Musona and we’ll give you Parker.”

Mike Makaab Responds to Parker’s Allegations

Agent Mike Makaab has since responded to Parker’s claims, clarifying his role in Musona’s transfer.

Speaking to iDiski Times, Makaab said,

“Bernard said it was a business decision, based on what the agent wanted, because we wanted Musona to go into Europe. Then let’s clear the air. We never did the Knowledge Musona deal to Europe. It was done by Rob Moore — he did the club-to-club. I stepped in after the deal was done.”
