Kaizer Chiefs Move to Tie Down In-Form Goalkeeper Brandon Petersen
Kaizer Chiefs are moving to secure the future of goalkeeper Brandon Petersen after his impressive performances this season reportedly convinced the club to offer him an improved long-term contract.
The shot-stopper has emerged as one of Chiefs’ standout players during the 2025/26 campaign, producing a string of strong displays that have helped stabilise the team defensively.
Reports indicate that the Soweto giants have already reached an agreement in principle with the 31-year-old over a fresh deal that could keep him at Naturena until 2030.
Kaizer Chiefs Reward Consistency
Although Petersen still has time remaining on his current contract, the club is understood to have moved early to secure his services amid his outstanding form in the Betway Premiership.
The proposed agreement is reportedly a two-year extension with an additional one-year option, giving Chiefs long-term security in the goalkeeping department.
Sources close to the negotiations say the club viewed Petersen’s renewal as a priority due to his consistency and influence this season.
Impressive Numbers This Season
Petersen has been one of the league’s top-performing goalkeepers this term.
In 22 league appearances, he has kept 13 clean sheets while conceding only 13 goals, statistics that have strengthened his claim as Chiefs’ undisputed first-choice goalkeeper.
His performances have also earned praise from supporters, with many viewing him as one of the key figures behind the club’s improved defensive record this season.
Agent Urges Patience
Despite reports suggesting the deal is close to completion, Petersen’s agent Glyn Binkin says the contract has not yet been formally signed.
Binkin confirmed that discussions over a new deal have taken place but stressed that the goalkeeper remains under his current contract while awaiting official paperwork from the club.
Long-Term Plans at Naturena
Should the agreement be finalised, Petersen would likely spend the peak years of his career at Chiefs as the club continues rebuilding its squad in pursuit of domestic silverware.
The expected extension also signals the club’s intention to maintain continuity in key positions as it looks to strengthen its challenge in South African football.
