Kaizer Chiefs Part Ways With Co-coaches Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze After Impressive Season
South African giants Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the departure of co-coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze
This comes after the Soweto-based club decided not to renew their contracts at the end of the 2025/26 season.
“With the season concluded, Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the departure of coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze following the end of their two-year contracts with the Club,” reads part of the statement.
Chiefs Begin Squad and Technical Team Restructuring
The departures come as Amakhosi begin restructuring ahead of the new campaign following a season that saw noticeable improvement in performances and results.
Ben Youssef joined Chiefs at the start of the 2024/25 season, while Kaze arrived later in October 2024. Both initially worked under former head coach Nasreddine Nabi before taking charge of the senior team after his exit in October 2025.
Improved Results Under Coaching Duo
After stepping into the lead role, the pair guided Chiefs to a 54-point finish in the league — the club’s second-best tally in the past 11 years.
The team also narrowly missed out on a place in the knockout stages of the CAF Confederation Cup after finishing Group D with 10 points, missing qualification on goal difference.
Across all competitions, including the Betway Premiership, CAF Confederation Cup, Carling Knockout Cup and Nedbank Cup, the duo oversaw 39 matches, recording 19 wins, 11 draws and nine defeats.
Club Thanks Departing Coaches
In a statement released after the season concluded, the club thanked the coaches for their contribution during their time at Naturena.
“We would like to extend our gratitude to the coaches for their dedication and contribution, and wish them all the best in their future,” the club said.
Chiefs also hinted that further announcements regarding changes within the club are expected in the coming weeks as preparations for the new season continue.
