Kaizer Chiefs will soon decide the futures of Dillan Solomons and Gaston Sirino. Both players’ contracts expire at the end of June.
However, they have struggled for regular game time this season. They played under coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze. Solomons dropped in the pecking order around October. Later, he impressed in the CAF Confederation Cup.
As a result, he regained favour in the squad. He has now made 19 appearances in all competitions. He has also scored once this season.
Sirino Faces Uncertain Future
Meanwhile, Gaston Sirino faces a more uncertain situation at Naturena. The 35-year-old joined Amakhosi as a free agent in 2024. Expectations were high after his success at Mamelodi Sundowns.
However, he has failed to maintain that form. Injuries have also disrupted his rhythm. This season, he has scored one goal and provided two assists. He has made 23 appearances across all competitions.
These numbers fall below expectations for a player of his pedigree. Therefore, his future at the club looks increasingly doubtful. Given his age and limited impact, Chiefs may release him soon.
Squad Changes and Upcoming Clash
Additionally, more players could leave as Chiefs reshape their squad. George Matlou, Fiacre Ntwari, Khanyisa Mayo, and Ashley Du Preez may depart. The club aims to strengthen and rebuild ahead of next season.
Meanwhile, Amakhosi will face Orbit College on Monday. This match forms part of the Betway Premiership fixtures. Earlier, Chiefs lost four consecutive matches in February and early March.
However, they recovered by winning two matches before the international break. Therefore, confidence has improved within the squad. A win on Monday could move them into third place. This result would boost their position in the Betway Premiership.
