Kariba Man Dies After Being Trampled by Elephant
A Kariba man has died after being attacked and trampled by an elephant on Saturday evening.
The incident happened at around 6pm, adding to a difficult period for the lakeside town following the recent Lake Kariba ferry disaster.
Chief Superintendent Clever Maramwidze confirmed the fatal wildlife encounter.

Man attacked while walking with friend
The deceased was reportedly walking with a friend when they encountered the elephant.
The elephant charged towards the two men, forcing them to flee in different directions.
The elephant caught up with the deceased and attacked him, leaving him with severe injuries.
His friend managed to escape and later returned with assistance after realising that the man had been attacked.

Victim dies in hospital
The injured man was found in a critical condition and was taken to hospital for treatment.
However, his injuries proved too severe and he later succumbed.
Authorities have confirmed the death as another tragic wildlife incident in the Kariba area.
The incident highlights the continued risk posed by human-wildlife encounters in communities located close to wildlife habitats.
