Kelsea’s Relatives Fined In Bulawayo Drug Case

Kelsea’s mother, Amina Arab, 47, her sister Dyonne, 28, and her aunt Noreen, 51, had been scheduled to stand trial at the Bulawayo Magistrates Court on November 5 and 6.

However, the three women appeared before regional magistrate Mark Dzira on November 2, where they changed their pleas to guilty following negotiations between their lawyers and prosecutors.

The court imposed the following fines:

  • Amina Arab was fined US$200, with 20 days in prison as an alternative if she fails to pay.

  • Noreen Jessub was fined US$250 or 25 days in prison.

  • Dyonne Tafirenyika was fined US$300 or 30 days in prison.

The trio were arrested on August 19 during a police operation at a lodge in Bulawayo’s Ilanda suburb.

What Police Recovered During The Lodge Raid

The arrests followed the recovery of suspected drugs and cash from the women’s rooms.

Police found two sachets of cocaine valued at ZiG9,000 concealed inside a shoe in Noreen’s room. Two more sachets of cocaine were recovered from Amina Arab’s room.

In Dyonne’s room, officers discovered a sachet of crystal methamphetamine, another sachet of cocaine and US$53,055 in cash.

The discoveries led to drug-related charges against the three women.
